Islamic Society of Northern Finland was registered in 2000 but actually Islamic activities started in this region during nineties. Our activities was a real response to Allah´s SWT call: “Let there arise out of you a band of people, inviting to what is good and forbidding what is wrong” (Sura Al-Imran:104). Our utmost vision to please Allah SWT (Subhanahu wata`ala).
The aim of this organisation is to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) by striving for the advancement of Islam, the development of the Muslim community and the benefit of the society.
This organisation shall always follow the Quran and Sunnah as well as Islamic Shariyah while taking decisions and formulating policies and procedures.
The main programs are:

(a) To call the Muslims to carry out their responsibilities as true representatives of Islam.To inform non-Muslims about Islam and try to remove misunderstandings.
(b)  To organise Muslims to carryout their responsibilities towards Muslims and non-Muslims. To develop a real brotherhood among Muslims regardless of language, colour, culture, nationality or class.
(c) To work for the unity of Muslims.
(d) To train Muslims in comprehensive knowledge, character and personality to be as a good Muslim and to serve the community.
(e) To co-operate with Muslims and non-Muslims who work for common good.
(f) To endeavour to enjoin right and forbid wrong.
(g) To fight for justice and struggle to eliminate racism, religious and other discriminations against Muslims and non-Muslims.
(h) To take care of Muslim marriage as per Islamic religion as well as to take care of Muslim funerals.
(i) To cooperate in establishing mosques and graveyard.

The main languages will be Finnish, English and Arabic.

The regular activities of the Society: Individual and group Da'wah, Study Classes, Tafsir, Hadith, Seerah and Camps for children as well as for adults. Developing Mosques, Schools, Raising funds for humanitarian relief, participating in local, national and global issues affecting the Ummah and humanity at large.

The History of the Society and its establishment in short as follows:

  • 1992 Islamic activities for Organizing Muslims started in oulu.
  • 1992 Established Islamic Society of Finland´s Oulu branch office.
  • 1992 Established a Muslim graveyard within Christian graveyard near Raksila City Market
  • 1992 Established first mosque in Oulu at Linnankatu.
  • 1993 First Islamic Conference in Finland organized by Islamic Society of Finland´s Oulu branch.
  • 1995 Oulu mosque was moved to Hallituskatu.
  • 1998 A society by name  “Oulu Islamic Society” was registered..
  • 2000 “Islamic Society of Northern Finland” was registered.
  • 2000 Oulu mosque was moved to Kajaaninkatu.
  • 2008 Islamic Society of Northern Finland´s registered members were 272.
  • 2009 New mosque place in Linnakatu 23-25.Mosque also known as YUSUF AN-NAAGHI MOSQUE.
